IHSS-Health Task Force
IHSS-Health Task Force

The In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) - Health Task Force is an on-going group that brings all of the stakeholders together to work for improvements in the IHSS Program and other homecare services. Activities have focused on improved wages and benefits for homecare workers, better services to consumers, and more outreach and advocacy to assure those who need assistance recieve it. Over 900 community members "subscribe" to our monthly newsletter, the Long Term Care News and Views, which is also available on-line.

The Task Force also works to support community-based long term care services and developing creative models for housing with supportive services. Our initial planning and feasability work for the "day health housing project", which opened recently as Presentation Senior Community at 301 Ellis Street. More information about this specific project is available at www.presentationseniorcommunity.com.

Task Force meeting topics have also focused on expanding Medi-caid waivers, advocacy for resources for housing, providing expertise and encouragement to the City's planning and policy development efforts around long term care.

IHSS-Health Task Force meets the first Thursday of every other month at 111 Jones Street. Call Alice at 415-703-0188 for more details.
